Q: How much is a tattoo ?

A: The age old question!! And the age old answer is; how long is a piece of string?? There are lots of different factors that contribute to the price of a tattoo, i.e. size, detail, design, and how long it takes to do. Our minimum charge is £30 and most expensive is £100's. Try not to choose a tattoo based on price its much better to save up and get a tattoo that you actually want, rather then the cheapest one you can find. I would much rather have one beautiful large piece,then five crappy ones for the same price!! A tattoo is probably one of the only things in this life that you can buy and keep forever -well worth the money you spend on it.

Q: Do tattoos hurt?

A: This is a very difficult question to answer as everyone has a different pain threshold, plus different places on the body have different feelings from each other, i.e. your arm might be painless but your ankle might not! I guess the best way to explain it is its like scratching sunburnt skin with sharp finger nails. Uncomfortable but bearable!!

Q: Do we provide/recommend numbing creams?

A: NO!!! It changes your skin prior to being tattooed and you will not get the same results. Besides if you want the tattoo badly enough -and you should if you are getting it etched onto you forever- you will sit through the discomfort.

Q: Is there anything I can do to prepare before having a tattoo done ?

A: Yes,there are a few thing that you can do;

don't drink alcohol for 24 hours before having a tattoo done. Alcohol thins the blood; probably not the best thing before piercing your skin with a needle!! The same rule
applies for any drugs, even paracetamel!

have a good meal before being tattooed to keep those sugar levels up.

don't apply any creams or oils to the skin.

don't shave the area yourself.

do bring a sweet drink with you.

do relax, the more you relax the better, the more tense you are the more its gonna
hurt.

Q: How do I look after my new tattoo ?

A: There are many weird and wonderful ways of looking after your tattoo, but here's what I do to mine and what I recommend my customers to do;

leave the dressing on for as long as you possibly can-I normally leave mine on
overnight

wash with warm soapy water

Pat dry

leave for a couple of hours before applying your preferred cream, my fave is
tattoo goo

apply your preferred cream 2-3 times per day until completely healed

don't scratch or pick your tattoo

keep it clean

don't swim, expose tattoo to sun, go on a sunbed until completely healed

don't contaminate with dirt, remember; your tattoo is a fresh wound, please treat it
as one!

even once your tattoo is all lovely and healed be sure to apply a high factor cream
when exposing it to the sun-sun fades tattoos faster then anything!

remember - you have paid good money for your tattoo, the least you can do is look
after it to make it look good for as long as possible.

Q: How old do I have to be ?

A: 18-it is against the law to be tattooed under this age.Having parents consent makes no difference whatsoever.If you have "heard" different,then you have "heard" wrong.There is a good reason for this law,you rarely want the same tattoo at the age of 18 or younger,then the one you want when you are in your 20's.Besides,if its something that you really really want then waiting a few months/years is not going to be too much of a hardship.

?Q: How do I become a tattooer/piercer

A: It seems every 18 year old who has maybe had one or two tattoos or piercings wants to make it their profession.I get asked this question on a weekly basis,my advice is go to college/uni,learn about art before tackling tattooing.become the best artist you can be first,build up a GOOD portfolio,get tattooed lots by GOOD artists,learn everything you can about your chosen profession via magazines & internet and then find someone who is willing to give you an apprenticeship.This will be hard-but not impossible.Make sure this person who is willing to teach you their profession is GOOD-there are a lot of crap tattooers out there.Be prepared to work for nothing and be prepared to start from the very bottom-do not expect to be tattooing in a short space of time.A good tattooer will make tattooing look easy-it is not.There is a lot more to it then meets the eye.This is not a 9-5 job,more like 24/7-you eat sleep and breath tattoos.No one will hand this profession to you on a plate-you will have to work very hard for it,but if you are GOOD enough and you perservere it will be worth it.
